Edmonton is a thriving community on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. As the service centre for Northern Alberta, it offers all the amenities of a large urban centre, but in a manageable format. Click www.info.ede.org/amenities to get an overview of what Edmonton has to offer.
Most of the institute will be held at the campus of the University of Alberta. Take some time to explore the Faculty of Music
The campus is a five minute Light Rail Transit Ride from downtown and directly adjacent to Edmonton’s most valuable asset: our gorgeous river valley and extensive system of parks and natural areas. Edmonton can boast more greenery within its boundaries than any other city in Canada with a 48-kilometre long stretch of park along the North Saskatchewan River from one side of the city to the other.
Edmonton bills itself as a festival city and there is indeed hardly a week when there is not some festival going on. or other going on. Virtually all of them are in walking distance of the University of Alberta Campus. The institute coincides with Edmonton Klondike Days, with lots going on downtown and elsewhere
While in Edmonton, you’ll want to visit the Francis Winspear Centre for Music. It is a truly magnificent concert hall, located in the heart of downtown. And you can always visit our West Edmonton Mall for an all out shopping extravaganza.
